Job Description

The RI Nurses Institute Middle College (RINIMC) is an innovative Rhode Island charter high school founded by the nursing profession in 2011 as a solution to increase diversity of underrepresented racial and ethnic groups in the nursing workforce. This unique model serves students in grades 9-12 in a fully immersed nursing college and career pathway program, NCCPP high school curriculum. RINIMC graduates earn a high school diploma, workforce certificates, and college credits that transfer to a post-secondary degree in nursing or other advanced healthcare provider degree program.

The mission of the Rhode Island Nurses Institute Middle College is to prepare a diverse population of students to become the highly educated and professional nursing workforce of the future. Our vision is to create an innovative high school experience that is student-centric, structured to foster a supportive learning environment, and committed to developing the skills, knowledge, and passion necessary to excel in the nursing and allied health professions. RINI is a model, flagship charter high school whose leadership team is guiding and supporting the start-up of other “like” schools across the United States.

As a charter school, RINI is independent and autonomous from the public schools however, employees can access many of the same benefits as offered through the public school sector. POSITION SUMMARY: The Dean of Student Support is a key member of the school’s leadership team who supports the team’s efforts to actively support students, families, and staff members as part of building and maintaining a positive school culture in service of achieving the RINI Pillars of Nursing. The Dean of Student Support is responsible for supporting the academic and social developmental needs of students, working directly with school Directors and Administrators to maintain a productive learning environment, and creating a community founded in equity, diversity and inclusion. The Dean of Student Support provides proactive leadership to the school’s counseling program that is preventative in design, developmental in implementation, and supports RINI students in the areas of academic achievement, career and college planning, and personal and social development. The Dean of Student Support also serves as a consultant to educators, families, and students through supporting and implementing best practices for disciplinary referrals, attendance, truancy, behavior monitoring plans, advising, and wrap-around supports.

    Job Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree required./ Master degree preferred; Current and active Rhode Island State Secondary Education Certification;
      Bilingual preferred; (1) year of experience in administrative and classroom leadership roles; Training in RTI/MTSS preferred; Certified/Experience in Restorative Practices/Justice.
    • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Master degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
