Philosophy:
The Social emotional Interventionists are an integral part of Albert Bridge School’s multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS). Social Emotional staff provide targeted and intensive supports for students identified through data collection and referral process. These supports include, but are not limited to: Check In/Check Out, Social Skills Groups, Behavior Support Plans (BSPs), and Collaborative Problem Solving. The Social Emotional staff also provides for universal interventions that are available to all students who may need intermittent behavioral support such as Buddy Room processing or when a student is unable to remain in the classroom due to unsafe behavior or group lessons.
SEIs strive to create a balance between positive feedback and logical consequences to unexpected behavior that are appropriate for each child/situation.
The SEI, under the direction of the School Counselor, Special Educator and Principal, is responsible for the implementation of targeted and/or intensive interventions and helping classrooms establish interventions within the classroom. Working closely with students exhibiting unexpected behaviors, the SEI uses a variety of strategies for relationship building, problem-solving, and the teaching and practicing of lagging skills. The SEI may be responsible for 1-on-1 support for students with behavioral challenges on an as needed basis. The SEI may also work with students and staff on a case-by-case basis in response to overall student need in order to build capacity at the universal level. SEI will take a leadership role in the MTSS process for students with Social Emotional Needs.
Duties:
? Implements targeted and/or intensive interventions as assigned
? This work to possibly include: spending periods of time (days, weeks, months) as a 1:1, riding the bus to/from school, lunch/recess duties, observing, staffing the Bridge, hosting lunch groups and de-escalating students
? Assists Special educator, School Counselor, Mtss Coordinator, 504 Coordinator, and Principal with data management (input, filing, etc.)
? Attends Targeted / Intensive meetings as needed
? Serves as a member of the Crisis Team, uses Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
? Spends a balance of time performing general support duties for the school. ? Collaborates with classroom teacher to help bridge the gap in curriculum expectations ? Supports all Staff in Collaborative Problem Solving
Qualifications:
? Bachelors in child development, psychology or other related field
? Has had, or willing to have, training in Crisis Prevention Intervention, Collaborative Problem Solving, and trauma informed practices
? Basic computer skills required: word processing, spreadsheets, data entry, and email ? Able to lift 50 lbs and trained in a current de-escalation and/or restraint methodology. ? Follow through on daily incident reports
