Duties & Responsibilities:  (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)
  • New Hires: Entry level rate $12.47/hr.; Current employees in the bargaining unit: Please refer to the salary schedule established by the applicable        bargaining group.
  • Work with all students to help meet their intellectual, social, emotional, and physical potential.
  • Assist with and support classroom teachers with all content areas of instruction with students in small group, whole group, or individually as directed by the classroom teacher.
  • Support a structured, positive learning environment implementing building wide Positive Behavior and Intervention Supports (PBIS) and Boys Town Social Skills strategies.
  • Supervise students before/after school and during lunch and recess; attend study trips.
  • Must be able to work in a team environment and demonstrate flexibility in duties and responsibilities as students' needs change.
  • Successful candidate must possess strong interpersonal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure each child reaches his/her potential.
  • Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.
  • Must be willing to support and implement Davenport's multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics.
  • Support students with CICO behavior cards daily/weekly
  • Set goals with each student to improve performance in targeted behavior area of need
  • Support students using PBIS
  • Support students with attendance concerns
  • Motivate students to be in school 
  • Must have good communication skills in order to collaborate with adults at school such as teachers, counselor, administration
  • Input data for CICO behavior cards
  • Be knowledgeable in PBIS strategies or willing to be trained and implement PBIS strategies
  • Directly teach and reinforce building wide expectations to students
  • Directly teach and reinforce the “social skill of the week”
  • Individual must be reliable and have good attendance
  • Individual must be flexible within the work day to meet the student needs in the building
  • Willingness to celebrate student successes in a positive manner
  • Individual must be able to make on the spot decisions to support student success
  • Support students by facilitating socials skills lessons with individual students or small groups
  • Implement token economy system for students on T2 and T3 behavior interventions plans
  • Respond to students who require deescalation in order to return to the classroom environment.
  • Review and implement T2 and T3 behavior plans for specific students while tracking intervention and behavior data
  • Build positive relationships with students in the building
  • Participate in building SIT for behavior
  • Complete observations on individual students in order to observe their behaviors in the academic setting
  • Manage student caseload based off of building data
  • Other duties as assigned by building principal or school administrative manager.
 

Physical Requirements of Position:  (HBV    Yes    No)
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to walk up and down steps all day.
  • Must be able to bend, squat and sit on the floor if needed.
