Job Description

Instructional Technology Lab Educational Assistant

 

Job Summary

Assist students and teachers in the computer lab and classrooms with hardware and software problems. 

 

Reports To:    Building Principal/Technology Director

 

Qualifications

  1. Current Level III license or eligible for Level III Educational Assistant License
  2. Minimum: High school diploma (AA or higher preferred)
  3. Familiarity with Macintosh computers (OS 9/ OS X) is essential. Knowledge of networking and server-based applications and services is highly valued.
  4. Some knowledge of Windows (98, 2000, XP) is also required.
  5. The ideal candidate for this position has a positive attitude and can work well and patiently with a wide variety of people who have all levels of technology proficiency.
  6. Capable of identifying and addressing problems independently, with minimal supervision, while keeping supervisor properly and fully informed of all relevant issues.
  7. Willing to collaborate and request assistance as needed from colleagues from the Office of Technology and others.

Essential Functions

  1. Maintain assigned Computer Lab
  2. Assist students and teachers in the computer lab and classrooms with hardware and software problems.
  3. Assist students and teachers with logging on the network; help teachers use e-mail and assist with various software applications as needed.
  4. Respond to requests for hardware and software repair or assistant.
  5. Diagnose equipment to determine the source of the problem and initiate in-house repairs or warranty work.
  6. Perform scheduled and routine maintenance of computer equipment. 
  7. Other duties as assigned.

This position supervises the following positions:  None.

Certificates, Licenses

Must possess or be eligible to obtain a valid New Mexico driver’s license.

Must possess a New Mexico Educational Assistant License – Level 3

 

Terms of Employment

Appropriate placement on the Instructional Assistants pays to schedule and the Aztec School District Calendar.

 

Evaluation

Performance of duties will be evaluated at least annually per Aztec School Board Policy.
