Job Description

These positions are elementary and secondary level in Hingham MA. It is a contracted position through North River Collaborative.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

1. The School Social Worker/Adjustment Counselor works under the direction and supervision of the North River Program Coordinator and the School Principal and Director of Special Education or his/her designee.
2. Teaches evidence based SEL curriculum and provides group and individual counseling to students as identified.
3. Able to utilize technology to provide online programming and telehealth.
4. Participates in Team meetings and re-evaluations, presenting an overview of student’s needs and recommended strategies for appropriate planning and support services.
5. Delivers student services as determined by the Team and Director of Special Education and provides documentation of all services, including, when requested, IEP goals and progress.
6. Provides support and consultation to families and conducts regular contact with the family and outside providers, as indicated.
7. Provides information regarding community recreational and therapeutic resources and assists families in accessing necessary services.
8. Screens all student referrals. Maintains progress notes based on goals/objectives.
9. Consults with teachers, administrators, school nurse and school psychologists on a regular basis.
10. Provides referral services when indicated and acts as Liaison with community mental health and other local and state agencies.
11. Provides emergency screening and crisis intervention as needed.

JOB GOAL: To work with students and families through the professional application of social work practice in the treatment of social/emotional and mental health conditions that may inhibit a student’s academic progress. To provide assessment and direct services to students in consultation with the family, administrators, teachers, and other service providers. To make referrals to community-based services as needed.

The ideal candidate will excel in empowering students and families to achieve their fullest potential by encouraging ownership, self-advocacy, organization, and inquiry. He or she will be able to utilize culturally proficient practices, on-line technologies and personalize the academic process for students. He or she will respond to the personal, social-emotional, and mental health needs of students. Strong candidates will be skillful in applying creativity to problem-solving and will have an eagerness to work collaboratively with teachers, administrators, and other staff to support student learning and success.
