Are you an experienced maintenance and facilities technician who takes pride in your work?

Essex Westford School District is seeking full-time Facility Technicians to join our team!

The Facility Technician plays an essential role in cleaning, monitoring, and maintaining the district’s buildings, grounds, and physical plant, supporting an environment that promotes learning, health, safety, and pride. The position will have a flexible schedule and will work across the various EWSD facilities based on individual strengths and the needs of the district.

Responsibilities include:
  • Perform a variety of cleaning services including sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, and refinish floors; clean, dust, and polish furniture; wash windows and walls; clean restrooms; dispose of rubbish, recycling, and compost; monitor and restock user supplies
  • Perform general maintenance work, such as repair/replace ceiling tiles; replace light bulbs and change clocks; patch, prepare, and paint walls and surfaces; service equipment as directed (filter changes, oiling locks, repairing lockers)
  • Perform general grounds maintenance work including removing snow; provide routine mowing, weed pulling, and leaf collecting on school grounds; and assist with preparing athletic fields.
  • Assist with a variety of semi-skilled and skilled trades work associated with the maintenance and construction of school facilities
  • Perform school support functions, including setup and breakdown of cafeteria, gymnasium, or auditorium for special events; install and maintain bulletin boards, frames, and displays; unload materials from delivery trucks; and move furniture.

Candidates with the following qualifications are encouraged to apply:
  • Relevant training/experience in the areas of commercial cleaning, general repair, property management, or a similar work environment.
  • Knowledge of custodial/facility management principles, best practices, and related regulations and policies required.
  • Demonstrated ability to use computers and various software applications.
  • Proven ability to work cooperatively and effectively as part of a team. Ability to work cooperatively and effectively with peers, subordinates, supervisors, parents, and outside agencies.
  • Must hold a valid VT Driver’s License and maintain an acceptable driving record.
