Job Description

Responsibilities:Providing one on one supports and interventions for a student with autism within an afterschool program. This includes involvement in all activities while in the program.
•Provide student support utilizing appropriate specialized techniques.
•Assists staff with appropriate student safety measures, de-escalation techniques, and physical interventions as necessary.
•Establishes a dignified, respectful, supportive and sympathetic relationship with the student.
•Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality of information about students.
•Participate in professional development opportunities as offered or assigned.
•Utilizing prescribed methods, assists students to implement learned and developing organizational skills.
•Utilizes instructional technology resources to support the student as needed.
•Supervises student during activities, recess, snack, as well as to and from the program.
•Assists and supports student in areas related to general health and personal hygiene.
•Assist the student in life skills and activities of daily living: including but not limited to the physical tasks of putting on and taking off of outerwear, moving from room to room, and using the lavatory.
•Other related duties as assigned by a Solutions Director or designee.

•Certificate, bachelor’s, or associate’s degree in behavioral health or related field.
•Relevant experience preferred.
•Good written and verbal communication skills.
•Strong interpersonal skills.
•Has the ability to relate to and work with children with autism.
•Relates well with students, staff, administration, parents, and the community.
•Previous experience with Applied Behavior Analysis preferred.

    The Lifelong Learning Institute is the community education branch of the Franklin Public Schools in Franklin, MA. Lifelong Learning provides educational experiences for Franklin residents (and those from surrounding towns) from pre-school through retirement and beyond. This all-encompassing mission is accomplished through the efforts of dedicated employees of the Franklin Public Schools, and is supplemented with the talents of a number of our "friends in education" who partner and collaborate with us. The Lifelong Learning Institute is a fully functioning part of the Franklin Public Schools and has been in existence since the fall of 1998.

    Schools are among the greatest resources a community has to offer its residents. In Franklin, the Lifelong Learning Institute provides opportunities for Town residents (and those from surrounding towns), who may or may not have school-aged children, to access a level of educational support, a sense of belonging and a feeling of ownership, while simultaneously enjoying a quality learning experience.
