Job Description

League School of Greater Boston is an award winning year-round program dedicated to the education of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders. Our team approach to education creates a collaborative, supportive and open environment within our community. We are currently seeking an Assistant Director of Education.

League School offers an array of programs to meet the needs of students with autism. Employing the SCERTS Model as an overarching framework, each of the League School’s day and residential programs is designed to teach social, academic, behavioral, and community-life skills based on a student’s age and ability. These programs range from functional academics to grade-level curricula as well as the vocational training and daily living skills to meet the individual strengths and needs of League’s widely diverse student population.

Education/Experience:
•Master’s degree and MA license in administration and special education preferred.
•One to three years of administrative experience.
•Five years’ experience with autistic population.
•Demonstrated interpersonal, supervisory, and administrative skills.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
1.Provides supervision to the Program Coordinators and Specials Teachers (art, music, and gym) including training, annual evaluations, observation, and weekly meetings.
2.Plans and develops staff training and professional development with the Director of Education and Program Coordinators.
3.Works with the Director of Education to review compliance of DESE and EEC regulations.
4.Carries out administrative responsibilities in the absence of the Director of Education, Director of Clinical and Behavior Services, and Chief Executive Officer.
5.Oversees maintenance of database for MCAS and Pathfinder grades.
6.Attends, and contributes to, committee meetings as assigned by the Director of Education.
7.Oversees the Curriculum Mapper Program, making changes to the site as needed.
8.Coordinates school pictures.
9.Attends various job fairs and conferences, as needed, to assist in the recruitment of staff and students or to exhibit.
10.Coordinates and supervises college/graduate student observations and interns/student teachers.
11.Works with the Program Coordinators, Director of Education, and other specialists to ensure new staff complete orientation training and all current staff are up to date.
12.Attends IEP meetings assigned by the Director of Education.
13.In conjunction with the Program Coordinators, maintains updated school forms on all students, i.e. Emergency Contact Forms, Medical Consent Forms and all Release Forms including Bullying.
14.Creates master matrix of coverage needs. Maintains and monitors coverage schedule for both lunch and recess. Provides coverage in emergency situations when necessary.
15.Develops marketing materials and coordinates their distribution in print and on the internet.
16.Coordinates the development of Public Relations materials, blogs, school news, etc. for the website.
17.Reviews and edits press releases, letters, emails, reports and communications prepared by others. Submits to Director of Education for distribution.
18.Works as a team player. Participates in (and/or facilitates) supervision, administrative meetings, classroom conferences, and staff meetings. Comes prepared with agenda and ready to discuss issues and solutions.
19.Completes paperwork for individual students or staff as needed.
20.Approves/rejects time-off requests for supervisees, with attention toward staff coverage.
21.Participates in all trainings, as required by League School of Greater Boston.
22.Updates DESE training modules.
23.Maintains resources for staff training opportunities.
24.Outreaches to local colleges and universities to develop relationships that will foster education and practicum opportunities at League School.
25.Monitors annual budget, including monthly reconciliation of expenditures.
26.Performs other related duties as designated by the Director of Education/Director of Clinical and Behavior Services/Chief Executive Officer that are deemed necessary for the operation of the school i.e. Open House, evening trainings, parent conferences etc.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and Google Suite.

Certificates and Licenses:
MA license as School Administrator and/or Special Needs
CPR
First Aid
Safety Care
Valid Driver’s License
