Job Description
The Windsor Central Unified District (WCUD) School Nutrition Program has an opening for a part time kitchen assistant at Woodstock Union HS/MS starting August 24, 2022, 6 hours per day, 5 days per week (9am-3pm).
Come join an amazing culinary team at the WUHSMS production kitchen! We are looking for a dynamic team player who enjoys working in a fast paced kitchen environment and has culinary experience and skills. Main responsibilities include preparing school meals in accordance with the USDA school meal pattern guidelines, maintaining kitchen cleanliness aligned with state and federal regulations, serving meals accurately to students and staff, assisting co-workers with production and working efficiently to maintain a high level of production.
Starting salary is $15.45 per hour and increases with education and experience. Excellent benefits. Benefit information available upon request.
Responsibilities and Qualifications:
Use safe food handling procedures according to VT Department of Health Food & Lodging regulations
Prepare meals according to planned menus, using approved standardized recipes and safe food handling procedures.
Work efficiently to maintain a high level of production in a fast paced kitchen environment.
Clean and maintain a safe and sanitary work station in accordance with all food safety regulations.
Foster a team environment by assisting co workers with scheduled work demands.
Communicate and interact positively with students, teachers and staff, parents and community at all times.
Working Conditions:
Mental Demands: calculating, comparing, problem-solving, evaluating, interpreting, organizing, consulting, analyzing, planning, documenting, specifying, coordinating, implementing, and presenting.
Physical Demands: sitting, standing, climbing stairs, adjusting, connecting, lifting (to 50 lbs.), bending at awkward angles, keyboarding, pulling, pushing, carrying, writing, and operating equipment.
Environmental Conditions; inside, slippery surfaces, chemical exposure, biological exposure, working around moving objects, working alone, working in hot and cold temperatures.
