Job Description

Hartford School District is looking for classroom counselors/clinicians to join our clinical team. The Classroom Counselor/Clinician will provide direct clinical services to children with emotional disturbance in building-based therapeutic/educational classrooms, across school settings, or in our Wilder Regional Alternative Program. Clinical services will be provided within the classroom milieu with some opportunity for individual psycho-therapeutic intervention. This position will work in partnership with educators to implement educational and therapeutic interventions with the students. Ongoing training and supervision will be provided by the Hartford School District Clinical Director and Director of Special Education.

    Job Requirements

    • Job Requirements:
      Candidate must hold a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a mental health field with at least a minimum of three years experience, or a master’s degree in clinical psychology, clinical social work, or clinical mental health
      The ideal candidate would have experience working with children
      Strong clinical skills in understanding developmental trauma and emotional disturbances
      The ability to implement research-based treatment plans
      Experience in the design of behavioral support plans at school and alternative therapeutic learning environments
      Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents and school teams
      Strong crisis intervention skills.
      The provision of support to educational staff
      Facilitate the reintegration of students into a less restrictive educational environment
      Collaboration with educators to implement a high quality educational program
    • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Master degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
