Job Description

DISTRICT INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY and DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS DIRECTOR
Reports To: Superintendent of SchoolsDept/Campus: District Information Technology and Instructional Support Services
Wage/Hour Status: Indexed or Licensed depending on credentials / ExemptContract Length: 245 days

Director of District Instructional Technology – train and assist users on the implementation and integration of
technology in the classroom and how it relates to education; provide training on new technology being
implemented throughout the district
District Website Administrator – update and customize the district website; create, update, or remove user
permissions to the district website; facilitate in the migration of web hosting services
District Director of Digital Communications – update, post, and moderate all of the district’s social media
platforms; facilitate streaming of district board meetings and all home-based streaming sporting
Events
Assist Director of District Technology – install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot all aspects of the
district’s network infrastructure, including but not limited to: servers, desktop computers, network
cabling, wireless bridges, IP phones, firewalls, network switches, interactive displays, projectors, and IP
cameras; install and configure unattended software packages and operating systems to end user
desktops; test software deployment using virtual machines; customize, implement, and troubleshoot
audio/video equipment across the entire district A combination of the aforementioned duties, the performance of which requires the same level of skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education/Certification: Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills: Understanding of latest education and industry trends and technologies
Ability to effectively communicate with employees, colleagues, service providers, and community members
Knowledge and skills in using technology as an instructional tool
Knowledge and skills in assessing data
Computer systems analyst skills
Computer programing skills
Software engineering or other similar skills
Have or obtain Google IT Certifications relevant to the needs of the district
Experience:
Experienced/Trained in a field of Technology and/or a Professional Educator that can demonstrate advanced technological skills and knowledge.
The Board/Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable alternatives to the above qualifications.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Demonstrate commitment that the academic achievement of all students is the primary reason for technology on campus.
Demonstrate effective customer service skills to district students, staff, and patrons.
Foster collegiality and team building among staff; encourage their active involvement in the decision-making process.
Communicate and promote expectation for high-level performance from staff; hold self and staff accountable for high performance; recognize excellence and achievement.
Articulate a clear direction for all students; articulate a positive image of the school district and school district personnel.
Conduct research on computer products in support of PC procurement and development efforts. Evaluate options and recommend hardware products for purchase.
Assist in developing long-term strategies and capacity planning for meeting future computer hardware needs.
Support development and implementation of new computer projects and new hardware installations.
Accurately document instances of hardware failure, repair, installation, and removal.
Assist with developing and administering an annual budget to include district needs for hardware, software, supplies, maintenance, and staff training.
Coordinate with applicable building and district administrators all matters relating to the purchase and installation of computers and other classroom educational technologies.
Assist in keeping administration abreast as to the status of technologies and recommend changes and improvements.
Receive and respond to inquiries regarding computer usage of all district employees.
Assist with integrating technology into curriculum.
Occasional, limited, after hours responsibilities for digital media posting, program tech assistance, etc..
Other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Direct supervision of information technology including hardware and networks.

EQUIPMENT USED:
Computer, audiovisual equipment, calculator, printer, copier, telephone system, handheld tools for installation of equipment/hardware.

Reading; perform basic arithmetic, ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written), maintain emotional control under stress, manage others in a non-coercive manner, maintain a clear focus on customer service
Physical Demands
Repetitive hand motions, prolonged use of computer, frequent interruptions, moderate standing, stooping, bending, and lifting, ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.

    • Education/Certification: Associate or Bachelor's degree in a related field preferred. Salary contingent upon degree and experience.

      245 day contract. 10 paid vacation days per year.
