Responsible to the Building Principal and Director of Student Services


Statement of Duties:                                                                 

  • Work with a diverse population of students and families within a multi-cultural community.
  • Increase family engagement and partnership within the school community.
  • Provide individual and group counseling to designated students.
  • Implement developmentally appropriate curriculum and positive behavior intervention systems (PBIS).
  • Multi-task and work within a fast-paced environment focused on student learning, data collection, and measurable outcomes.
  • Participate in the Crisis Intervention Team.
  • Consult with classroom teachers, administration and outside agencies to support the social and emotional needs of students.
  • Coordinate with the Building Administration regarding CRA petitions and 51As.
  • Complete Functional Behavioral Assessments as needed as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively with the Lead Counselor.
  • Perform other general duties as indicated by the Supervisor of Counseling Services, Principal and Director of Student Services, directives of the Superintendent of Schools or his/her designee and policies of the School Committee.



  • Licensed as a School Adjustment Counselor by Massachusetts Department of Education preferred.
  • SEI Endorsement strongly preferred
  • Master’s Degree in the area of counseling or a related field preferred.
  • Bilingual (Spanish or Portuguese) Preferred.
