Duties & Responsibilities:  (Essential Functions of Position, Major Responsibilities, Summary of Key Duties, Special Assignments, Relationships)
  • Assist with supervision of all phases of the volleyball program--planning, strategy, instruction in fundamentals, etc.
  • Responsible for care and issuance of all volleyball equipment used by the team.
  • Communicate with high school coaching staff(s) and attend meetings or mini clinics at high school(s) to ensure continuity in the DCSD 7-12 grade volleyball program.
  • Understand and enforce academic eligibility requirements.
  • Understand and promote good sportsmanship among student-athletes.
  • Complete required reports and records accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for the athletic policy approved by the Board of Education.
  • Supervise players at all practices and games, as well as in the locker room and on the bus until all students are picked up or off campus...
  • Work in cooperation with the building Activity Director and with the Director of Athletics for the Davenport Community Schools
  • Other duties as assigned by administration.
  • Must be willing to support and implement Davenport's multi-tiered system of supports (MTSS) for both behavior and academics.
  • Successful candidate must possess strong inter-personal skills with a proven record of building rapport with culturally diverse students to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.
  • Good attendance and punctuality are a must to ensure that the duties and responsibilities of the job are performed successfully.

Physical Requirements of Position:  (HBV   Yes   No)
  • Ability to demonstrate volleyball techniques as necessary.
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to lift/push/pull 50lbs.

Special Qualification Desired:  (Personal Qualities, Education, Skills Needed, Experience, Etc.)
  • Must possess valid Iowa coaching authorization and submit completed NFHS Online Concussion Course
  • Previous volleyball coaching experience desired.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with players, coaches, parents, and others who work with the program.
  • Recognition of the need for confidentiality with respect to student and parental rights to privacy, as well as confidentiality of all conversation and hard copy information
  • Ability to create enthusiastic, positive environment that promotes future student participation in the program.
