Job Description

Requirements:

A valid Michigan teaching certification in elementary instruction is required.  

 

Job Duties and Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to the following):

  • Communication between the IB and school and PLTW/STEM and school to ensure staff have the necessary information and access to digital platforms
  • Facilitating the development of the PYP and its whole-school implementation
  • Facilitating inquiry through the collaborative development of the transdisciplinary Units of Inquiry with grade level teams and maintaining a record of all curricular documents
  • Communication with all stakeholders regarding PYP and STEM learning including information sessions and written publications
  • Assessing and leading professional learning in various structures (individual teacher coaching, small group, whole school, district) to grow teacher knowledge and practice in PYP and STEM
  • In collaboration with the Principal and District Administrators, ensure that the school follows all requirements of the IB and STEM programming including but not limited to ongoing authorization, evaluation, and continuous improvement
  • Supporting teachers and students through the Exhibition process
  • Collecting and maintaining necessary documentation and data for PYP and STEM
  • Development and implementation of policies and procedures that support PYP and STEM
  • Managing resources related to PYP and STEM including purchasing of materials
  • Collaboration with IB/PYP Coordinators and Curriculum Office Administrators to ensure successful district-wide implementation

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proven teaching ability with experience in a PYP school
  • Capacity to serve as a pedagogical leader
  • Evidence of a professional philosophy aligned with IB PYP and STEM learning
  • Completion of a Category 3 PYP training  
  • Experience facilitating professional learning in various structures
  • Evidence of exemplary skills in the areas of the IB learner profile, communication, collaboration, personal management, organization, and use of technology to enhance STEM learning
