(28 Days, 20 Instructional plus 8 days for enrollment & materials prep & staffing)

7:30AM – 2:00PM


SUMMARY:  Serves as secretary to the summer school coordinators for the school/public being served in communicating information, problem solving, material acquisition, cash handling, record keeping and building use permits.


  • Serves as confidential secretary to the principal
  • Makes and receives telephone calls, takes messages, routes calls
  • Processes/maintains physical and electronic school records and files for the building, principal, staff, and related requirements
  • Distributes mail
  • Greets visitors
  • Types, prepares, distributes, files, records/reports, correspondence, mailings, etc., related to building functions and principal needs
  • Designs, generates, and produces special programs, communications flyers, schedules and necessary school related art work
  • Processes attendance/payroll for the building staff
  • Maintains, upgrades and supports student database system
  • Provides appropriate routing and emergency first aid/medical needs for staff and students
  • Administers medication and maintains records of medical accounting procedures according to policy and regulations
  • Generates necessary correspondence
  • Assesses needs and makes recommendations for building materials and related electronic equipment
  • Orders, processes and maintains inventory supplies, materials and related equipment
  • Maintains, operates and provides technical support for staff on related building/office equipment, computer equipment and related applications
  • Maintains records, compiles data, and produces pupil accounting reports for building, district and county
  • Distributes community/district flyers
  • Maintains financial records/reports of internal building accounts and related tasks
  • Responsible to maintain regular and reliable attendance
  • Performs such other duties as may be assigned by administration



  • Bachelors degree preferred (non-degreed candidates may receive consideration)
  • Previous school employment experience preferred
  • Computer proficient in Power School, Excel, Microsoft Office Suite, PowerSchools, SchoolDude, Aesop and Safeschools or willing to be trained.
  • Ability to accurately input and retrieve computer data and work at computer for long periods of time
  • Must possess a high degree of efficiency and accuracy
  • Ability to work with general supervision and/or independently
  • Must possess a high level of skill in communication, both written and verbal
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills with a demonstrated ability to work harmoniously with office staff, administration, students, and parents
  • Ability to remain calm in stressful situations
  • Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community


Language Skills –
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret documents.  Ability to write, correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administrators, staff, parents and students.


Mathematical and Reasoning Skills – Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

The job typically requires minimal physical exertion; individuals in this position may be on their feet throughout the workday.  The person in this position needs to occasionally move about inside the office and building.  In addition, the person may need to occasionally push or lift equipment or boxes.  The employee may need to travel to other buildings occasionally.
