Job Description

Purpose Statement:

The Director of School Improvement facilitates the school improvement planning process. This position guides, supports, and collaborates with the school principals and their leadership teams to achieve continuous academic improvement. The position ensures that all schools successfully implement Integrated Action Plans (IAPs) and the respective processes to achieve specific performance targets and outcomes. The position will establish and implement a systematic process to analyze, collect data, and subsequently develop action plans and tools for monitoring as well as reporting outcomes. The Director works collaboratively among the staff of the Teaching and Learning Department, to ensure a coordinated and aligned process for instructional learning walks and instructional rounds to build a standard support model for all schools that is aligned and coordinated with the district’s Integrated Action Plan.

1. Possess a Master’s Degree or its equivalent with special training in school administration.
2. Minimum of three (3) years classroom teaching experience.
3. Minimum of 3 years local school administration experience preferred.
4. Direct experience with the administration of K-8 curricular programs.
5. Knowledgeable in the laws and regulations regarding public education.
6. Possess the state required certification.
7. Possess demonstrated administrative skills and leadership ability; must have established himself/herself as an educational leader.

Essential Functions:
? Ensures communication and alignment of school improvement processes, procedures, and systems for closing achievement gaps and raising outcomes for all learners.
? Leads improvement efforts towards ensuring IAP Goals by motivating and mentoring school leaders and facilitating systemic change strategies.
? Collaborates in the development and implementation of all Integrated Action Plans (IAPs) toensure alignment with the District Strategic Plan.
? Provides a quarterly report to the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning regarding the schools and district’s progress on all components of the IAPs, as well as indicators of progress such as student attendance, teacher attendance, teacher retention,
formative assessments, discipline incidents, teacher effectiveness student transition efforts.
? Participates in school walk-throughs and meets regularly with school leaders in order to implement observation feedback and improve the quality of instruction.
? Collaborates with all Teaching and Learning Directors, and District Executive Team members to ensure the systemic alignment involving instructional priorities, processes, andimprovement plans.
? Provides ongoing professional development to administrators and professional learning communities to ensure their proficiency in data analysis and school improvement processes.
? Conducts PLC visits with key staff to provide specific support to teams in the continuous improvement process.
? Implements a system to ensure equitable attention to the data, especially as it relates to closing the achievement gap for subgroups and raising the bar for all learners.
? Supports the implementation of Title I programs, services, and related improvement initiatives in select schools.
? Works with the Teaching and Learning Directors and Principals to ensure the engagement of parents, community members, and other stakeholders in the implementation of  instructional initiatives, achievement data analysis, family and community engagement plan
development, and school improvement monitoring.
? Supports the district's strategic plan to achieve equity and excellence for all in a multicultural and multigenerational teaching and learning environment.
? Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Superintendent of Teaching & Learning.

Salary: Administrative Salary Schedule, Full Benefits, 12 months
