Job Description

Physical Education Elementary Specialist 

Purpose:  The primary purpose of this position is to establish a positive, respectful learning environment and to instruct groups of students in music, physical education or art so that students develop understandings, attitudes and fundamental skills that will allow them to actively and safely participate with enthusiasm and enjoyment.   

FTE: 1.0 (Full-Time)
FLSA Status: Licensed - Professional
Contract Status: Regular/Probationary
Start Date: 2021-22 School Year
Calendar: 191 Work Days
Salary: $41,624 - $84,337 with benefits (Note: this is the 2020-21 salary schedule, 2021-22 is TBD)
Retirement Contribution: Corvallis School District participates in the Oregon Public Employee Retirement System (PERS and OPSRP) on behalf of its employees. Upon eligibility, the district contributes 6% of an employee’s salary to their Individual Account Program (IAP). Eligibility is defined as working at least six full calendar months in a qualifying position. Part-time employees working at least six months and 600 hours in a calendar year will qualify.
Notes: Open until filled with earliest review of applications on April 30, 2021. Two positions are available, one at Adams Elementary & Wildcat Elementary.

Minimum Qualifications: 
  • Valid Oregon teacher’s license with Physical Education endorsement and grade level authorization.  Must be highly qualified or able to become highly qualified in area assigned according to NCLB laws.
  • Understanding of human growth and development patterns, learning theory and brain research.
  • Content knowledge in subject areas taught.
