POSITION VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT


JOB STATUS: All Applicants

JOB TITLE: Building Administrator-Elementary

LOCATION: Reed Elementary

REPORTS TO: Principal

CALENDAR: 200

HOURS: Full Time

SALARY: Placed on salary schedule

QUALIFICATIONS:

 
Valid Idaho Education Credential endorsed as Principal preferred

At least three (3) years of successful classroom teaching

Must possess near expert knowledge and skill in one or more of the areas listed, and be willing to build knowledge and skill in other areas:

PBIS (Positive Behavior Intervention and Supports)

Dealing with severe behavioral challenged children

Second Language Acquisition (EL and Dual Language)

Title III and Title IC 

Special Education

Instructing diverse learners

Instructing children challenged by poverty

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the School Board may prescribe

Ability to follow both oral and written directions

Ability to plan own work schedule and prioritize responsibilities

 
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

 
Interpret and enforce district policies and administrative regulations, including the skillful handling of daily disciplinary and attendance problems, guaranteeing due process to students.

Communicate with district staff, students, parents, vendors, or other visitors in a positive, friendly manner.

Maintain student discipline and work with students, teachers, and parents to maintain a positive school environment.

Serve as a liaison with law enforcement and social welfare agencies.

Supervise school attendance program; oversee the completion of state and district reports.

Serve as the primary contact for parent concerns with the discretion to elevate to building principal if necessary.

Schedule and supervise playground duties.

Coordinate programs for support of student success, i.e. ESL, Dual Language, Migrant, Title 1, Special Education, behavior, etc.

Possible extra duties at district level for Title IC and Title III program oversight.

Participate in the supervision of daily use of the school facilities.  Keep the building principal informed of events, activities, and other routine matters related to the principal’s area of accountability.

Coordinate and be responsible for adequate administrative and staff supervision at all school and extracurricular programs and events.

Assist in the maintenance of a safe and secure environment for students and staff.  Oversee campus safety including security, crisis planning, emergency procedures (drills, staff training, etc).

Maintain inventory of furniture, equipment, and supplies.  Manage supply orders with principal supervision.

Maintain inventory of curriculum and order curriculum if necessary.

Assist with the preparation of financial reports, use of checkbook, and budgets.

Participate in building level and district committees as assigned by the building principal, the assistant superintendent, or the superintendent.

Participate in the supervision and evaluation of school personnel, as assigned by the principal.

Provide written and oral reports as requested by the building principal, district administration, and the school board.

Assume the responsibilities and duties of the principal in the principal's absence.

Act ethically and confidentially in all aspects of employment.

Perform other duties as directed and assigned by the principal.

Must be able to effectively supervise and support staff when consequences are implemented including supervising physical restraint and seclusion if necessary for safety.

Sit for extended periods of time.

Walk and stand for extended periods of time.

Reach with hands and arms.

Occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds.
