Job Description


Dayton Public Schools is recruiting certified teachers for the extended duty position of Elementary School Instructor for Summer Camp. Camp Instructors will instruct and monitor the curriculum. This program will be in operation 8:00-4:00 Monday through Friday beginning July 12 and ending July 23 at sites to be determined. Students will complete instruction in core areas and will have several activities throughout the course of the day. The camp will be offered in four different locations throughout Dayton for students in grades 1-6. Positions needed will be the following:
ELA
Math
Science
Special Education
Art
Music
P.E.

 

Hours of work are a maximum of eight (8.0) hours per person, per day and may vary depending on
position. Per the DEA contract, compensation is at $32.63 per hour. Number of teachers needed will
be subject to change based on the number of students enrolled.


Requirements:
? Deliver instruction through district required materials
? Use differentiated instruction to provide students with a range of different avenues for
understanding new information
? Provide individualized feedback and guidance to students with the goal of enhancing their
academic performance
? Facilitate students’ successful completion of classroom coursework by tracking student
progress and achievement and modifying and/or reassigning assignments and/or
coursework when necessary
? Hold the appropriate licensure for the area in which teacher is responsible for teaching
? Maintain orderly learning environment, build positive relationships with students prepare
reading and mathematics instructional activities
? Collaborate with colleagues and assist one another in curriculum
? Be in attendance daily
? Comply with all safety and health protocols and participate in staff development
? Attend and participate in all appropriate staff development activities
? Attend field trips, etc… with students during the school day
? Communicate with parents and/or guardians of DPS students by contacting parents and/or
guardians discussing student attendance and progress if needed
? Comply with Individualized Education Plans and/or other personalized instructional plans
by making instructional modifications in accordance with these plans as necessary
? Closely supervise and monitor students, including sign-out procedures, and adheres to all
other attendance/behavioral criteria.
? Hold all students accountable and ensure program remains a credible and viable program
? Any other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
? Certification in PK-6 Mathematics, or PK-6 English/Language Arts, and/or Special
Education, PK-6 Science, Art, Music, P.E K-12
? Working knowledge with the latest teaching strategies, academic content standards, and
diagnostic prescriptive practices
? Excellent classroom management, teamwork, and communication skills Mandatory Training
