Job Description

The Learning Community, a K-8 public school, is currently seeking a Behavioral Support Specialist to join our dynamic team. This full-time team member will provide therapeutic behavioral support to elementary and/or middle grades students as needed throughout the school day. The Behavioral Support Specialist serves the school community as an expert in the field of positive behavioral intervention, peaceful conflict resolution, and restorative practices.

Job Description:

•Proactively builds and sustains partnerships within the community to identify challenges and support with the development and implementation of student-focused behavioral interventions and solutions.
•Responds promptly to behavioral incidents within the community and communicates with students, team members, and families to follow through on conflict resolution and implement restorative discipline practices.
•Collaborates with team members and families to develop and implement positive behavioral reinforcement techniques, develop behavior intervention plans, and monitor student progress.
•Serves as a leader in crisis intervention and implementation of de-escalation techniques
•Is prepared and punctual for school, meetings, and trainings as required.
•Performs other related tasks as required.

    Job Requirements

    • Requirements:

      •At least one year of experience working with children who have social, emotional, and behavioral needs (required)
      •Familiarity with the use of behavior monitoring and reinforcement systems (required)
      •Willingness to become trained in and implement nonviolent physical intervention protocols as needed (required)
      •A bachelor’s degree in an education, psychology or behavior-related field (preferred)
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
