About the School

McAuliffe is a 18 year-old charter middle school (grades 6-7-8) educating 400 scholars who live in MetroWest: Ashland, Framingham, Holliston, Hopkinton, Marlborough, Natick, Southborough, and Sudbury. We are one of 155 EL Education (EL) schools nation-wide and one of nine EL schools in Massachusetts. EL is a non-profit organization devoted to providing network schools with a highly-respected model of comprehensive school reform with emphasis on high achievement through active learning, character growth, and teamwork.

POSITION OVERVIEW
McAuliffe is seeking energetic and dependable individuals to be our Hybrid Guest Teachers! Guest teaching for McAuliffe is a great opportunity for teachers or teachers-in-training to be a part of an organization dedicated to transforming the lives of middle school students. For those applicants on their way to becoming credentialed teachers, you will be connected to exciting job opportunities, as we recruit from our substitute pool on an annual basis. Guest teachers are compensated per day or per half day. Positions are to be filled effective immediately to serve between now and the end of the year.

RESPONSIBILITIES / EXPECTATIONS
- On Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, be an in-person presence for small classes of in-person scholars who will be learning via Zoom with their teachers (Hybrid Proctors will work with the same groups of scholars over the course of the three days). Working on Mondays is also a possibility if candidates are interested.
- Create and maintain a classroom environment that is conducive to learning
- Maintain a positive atmosphere and positive relationships with and between students
- As appropriate, carry out instructions given by the classroom teacher
- Uphold McAuliffe’s health and safety protocols and practices for the hybrid program
- Carry out other routine tasks as directed

QUALIFICATIONS
- Ideal candidate will be flexible and easily adaptable, comfortable with working with students at all grade levels, and be able to provide differentiated instruction and support in multiple classroom environments.
- Interest in building your teaching skills.
- Strong communication skills.
- Enjoys middle school age students.
- Strong behavior management skills including a balance of firmness, warmth, and humor.
- Ability to “think on your feet” and have fun doing it.
- Desire to connect with a community of educators who may want to hire you as a teacher in the future.
