Job Description
Hingham Middle School is looking for candidates to fill a maternity leave of approximately 8 weeks, starting on or around February 8, 2021. The Special Education Teacher provides an appropriate educational program, in-person, for eighth grade students receiving educational services via an Individualized Education Program. This teacher acts as the case manager/liaison for a group of students, co-teaches in a general education classrooms, teaches English and Strategies for Learning classes, and supports student acquisition of skills related to IEP goals. This teacher is expected to maintain open communication with parents, general education teachers, counselors, as well as contribute to the regular functioning of the school and the special education department.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
-Requisite licensure as defined by DESE
-Experience implementing all parts of the IEP process
-Excellent oral and written communication skills
-Ability to use technology effectively
-Ability to handle a multitude of varying and complex issues
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:
-Teach students specific skills and strategies to help them access and make progress in curriculum
-Conduct IEP meetings and complete all related paperwork in a timely fashion
-Monitor student progress; revise IEPs accordingly
-Co-teach with general education teachers
-Independently teach 8th grade English class, as well as 'Strategies for Learning' classes
-Communication with all relevant school personnel
-Consistent and on-time attendance
-Responsible for implementing other job-related duties as needed
