Job Description

EDCO Deaf and Hard of Hearing program is seeking a part-time Educational Interpreter for its middle school program. This is a 15-20 hour per week position for in-person learning in a hybrid model at FA Day Middle School in Newton, MA, with the possibility of some remote interpreting per the program's needs. The educational interpreter will facilitate communication among students who are deaf or hard of hearing, their hearing peers, classroom teachers and various school personnel. The educational interpreter is an active part of the educational team and serves as a liaison between students who are deaf or hard of hearing, mainstream faculty members and the EDCO team. The educational interpreter may provide interpreting for Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings and a variety of school functions, including after school activities.

    Job Requirements

    • -Demonstrate sign language skills at the 3.5 level (or higher) on the EIPA
      -Strong interpersonal skills
      -Other duties as assigned
      -School experience preferred

    • At least 1 year of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
