Job Description

Milestones Day School has provided state-of-the-art, evidenced-based, comprehensive, educational and therapeutic programming for students with autism and mental health challenges for the past 26 years. We are seeking an experienced psychologist to work with our high school students and help improve the quality of their lives by teaching skill development. The ideal candidate for this role will have strong organizational and management skills as well as a strong fondness of our population.

Milestones is expanding our program and we are seeking an additional clinician who is a talented and experienced psychologist (Ph.D. or Psy.D. only) to oversee the high school students.

Specific responsibilities include:
•General program management, supervision, and oversight
•Running weekly group supervision meetings and providing consultation/training throughout the week to Milestones’ staff
•Providing diagnostic & psychological assessments (including personality/projective assessments)
•Writing reports & effectively presenting information, test results, diagnoses, & recommendations at meetings in a manner easily understood by the team (including family) & when appropriate, the student
•Liaison to students’ outside psychologists and psychiatrists
•Provide individual & small group therapy
•Consult with families
•Provide crisis intervention in situations requiring immediate psychological treatment
•Evaluate the progress of therapeutic programs and make individual modifications
•Assess mental status (including suicidality) in students and develop plans based upon findings
•Participate in Milestones’ research projects
•Write IEP goals, benchmarks, and progress reports for the psychological aspects of the students’ IEPs
•Continue to keep up with professional development for current trends in the field

•Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology or related
•Licensed in the state of Massachusetts as a psychologist
•Knowledge and experience with a variety of assessment instruments including administration, scoring, and interpretation
•Knowledge and experience of a wide variety of psychological methods. Mindfulness, DBT & CBT, preferred
•Knowledge and experience with students who have autism spectrum disorders and various mental health challenges (e.g., anxiety, OCD, bipolar disorder, Tourette’s, thought disorders, etc.)
•Knowledge of special education systems and laws, preferred
•Desire to keep abreast of current information of various diagnoses and treatment methods through professional development
•Strong interpersonal and communication skills
•Strong organizational skills & experience with being a team player
•Strong empathy and understanding of both students who have disabilities and parents who have children with disabilities
•Excellent critical thinking, written, and verbal skills
•Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses
