Job Description

Responsibilities:
1. Convey and instill high expectations for each student based on fundamental philosophy that all students can learn.
2. Conduct extensive speech and language evaluations of referred students
3. Ensure that student progress is evaluated on a regular, systematic basis and that findings are used in making decisions to improve program effectiveness as it relates to specific student needs
4. Address student speech and language deficiencies by focusing resources and efforts to promote satisfactory classroom performance
5. Facilitate home-school cooperation to enhance academic achievement and ensure that special curriculum is responsive to student needs
6. Provide consultative services to school personnel and parents
7. Function as a liaison between the school and family in student assessment and interpretation of test results. Continuous updates to the special education director.
8. Assist in ensuring that the special curriculum is responsive to student needs
9. Monitor student progress for a caseload of 40 students.
10. Address the needs of students requiring speech pragmatics and run lunch bunch groups for this population of students
11. Analyze speech and language outcomes and evaluate instructional support programs to recommend appropriate changes in purposes, designs, materials, and implementation
12. Teach within an inclusive classroom environment and provide classroom teachers with appropriate guidance regarding students developing language skills.
13. Complete initial evaluations and reevaluations to maintain all state and federal compliance standards.
14. Ability to deal consistently and equitably with personnel and contribute to positive staff morale
15. Anticipate, manage and resolve conflict effectively; as well as foster and promote collegiality and team building in staff and student
16. Ability to listen with an open mind to the ideas and concerns of all constituents
17. Ability to use appropriate conflict resolution strategies effectively and demonstrate a genuine concern and regard for coworkers and supervisors
18. Participate in external organizations and/or related to position
19. Ability to demonstrate clear decision-making processes in difficult circumstances and celebrate success
20. Assume responsibility for timely completion, maintenance, and filing all reports, records, and other documents as required.
21. Make independent objective decisions in a timely manner, based on adequate and accurate information

23. A contributing member to the school community service learning with a focus on professional development to our staff and families.

    Job Requirements

    • Licensed Speech and Language pathologist
      Certified to perform all aspects of speech and language evaluations
      Strong consultation and communication skills
      Strong public relations and interpersonal skills
    • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
