:Mount Alvernia High School, a private Catholic, college preparatory school for 200 young women in grades 7-12 accredited by The New England Association of Schools and Colleges, seeks a Head of School effective July 1, 2020. Mt. Alvernia offers a rigorous core curriculum designed to shape young women who can and will be an effective force in the world. The co-curricular offerings are extensive and a community service component is mandatory. Students are actively involved in the life of the school and in the surrounding communities.

The Head of School will carry on Mount Alvernia High School’s mission of academic excellence and service and will provide vision and leadership for the faculty, students and their parents. The Head of School is the chief administrative officer of the school and serves as an ex-officio board member.

The Head of School serves Mount Alvernia High School in a professional manner and acts in accordance with Christian and Franciscan values and ideals that define Mount Alvernia High School.

The Head of School will be responsible for leading in the following areas:
•ensuring the Catholic and Franciscan identity of the school;
•strategic planning and collaborating with the Missionary Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate Conception and the Board of
•providing exceptional leadership and vision for the present and future;
•overseeing all aspects of the school’s operations;
•supporting the Assistant Head of School who is the instructional school leader and whose primary responsibilities are overseeing
the day to day operations, setting and measuring curriculum goals, and overseeing faculty and students;
•providing strong financial management and preparing the annual school budget with the finance committee; and
•overseeing facilities projects and all advancement efforts including development and enrollment management.

The Head of School reports directly to the Missionary Franciscan Sisters and the Board of Directors. The Head of School is the chief spokesperson for the school, provides visible, personal leadership to the school community and articulates and promotes Mount Alvernia High School to internal and external constituencies of the school.

We seek a Head of School who is faith-filled with a passion for educating young girls and a strong vision for school growth and development. The Head of School is directly responsible for the external affairs of the school and the internal operations of the school. The Head of School is also responsible for alumnae, community relations and enrollment management activities.

    Job Requirements

    • Requirements:
      •A practicing Catholic who possesses an active and integrated faith life;
      •3-5 years of teaching or educational leadership experience;
      •Masters Degree in Educational Administration or Educational Leadership;
      •Experience with development and fundraising processes, public relations and financial operations;
      •Excellent written and oral communication skills; and
      •Awareness and commitment to the spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional, and physical needs of high school aged students.
    • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Master degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
