The Community Group

The Community Group (TCG) is a private, nonprofit organization creating opportunities through education since 1970. TCG manages a range of programs, including a network of early childhood and out-of-school time programs, a network of charter and district public schools, consulting and training programs, and a child care resource and referral program, Child Care Circuit.


The paraprofessional will assist classroom teachers or principals, with duties regarding the students.

  1. Maintain order with the students assigned for supervision;
  2. Tutor students on lessons determined by the teacher;
  3. Help to maintain a positive classroom environment;
  4. Help to maintain order on the bus, if assigned;
  5. Monitor students for health problems, if assigned;
  6. Assist students with lessons and assignments in regular classrooms, if assigned;
  7. Assist teacher with organizational needs in the classroom;
  8. Maintain accurate records regarding students;
  9. Work as a member of the team with the teacher;
  10. Maintain confidentiality;
  11. Willing to obtain added training; and
  12. All other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

    1. Experience working with school-aged children;
    2. High School Diploma is required;
    3. Prefer, but do not require, some post-high school education;
    4. Good people skills;
    5. Well organized;
    6. Ability to work as a member of the team;
    7. Some technology skills;
    8. Ability to work well with students; and
    9. Ability to manage student behavior.
