WPS is has an IMMEDIATE NEED for School Psychologists to cover long term leaves

across the district for several months. Come join our terrific team!

We offer the following BENEFITS on the 21st day of work, as long as there is no break in service:

Pay increase to highest degree, Step 1

Sick Time accruals (1 sick day for every 14 work days)

Ideal candidates will possess:

Mass. DESE school psychologist licensure commensurate with grade levels;
Ability to administer psychological diagnostic tests;
Comprehensive, insightful diagnostic skills;
Ability to interpret a variety of informal and formal special education assessments;
Knowledge of specific approaches and tools to help students, teachers and families better deal with all factors which interfere with the learning process;
Experience working collaboratively to address student needs;
Experience writing IEPs and collaborating in IEP meetings;
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of child development;
A strong understanding of when further evaluations may be beneficial;
Ability to communicate effectively with parents and outside agencies to support student learning;
Appreciation for students from diverse family and socio-economic situations;
Strong written and verbal communication skills;
An open-mind, a sense of humor, and the ability to calmly approach stressful situations.

Psychologist duties include, but are not limited to:

Student assessment including administration of psychological evaluations of cognitive skills, attention, memory, social-emotional functioning and student observations
Participation in special education Team meetings, school mental health, crisis response team and/or counseling team
Consultation with school administration, team chairpeople, BCBA, SLP, OT, PT, General Ed. and special educators
Involvement and consultation around behavioral interventions and plans
Other duties as deemed necessary by Directors of Special Education
Attend department meetings
Participate with colleagues as a contributing member of school communities
