Job Description
To be trained and supervised by a licensed
registered nurse. Will operate under the direct supervision of the
registered nurse.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Support the school nurse with all aspects of student
health and wellness to minimize absenteeism and maximize student
learning
- Assist students who may be ill, contacting
parents/guardians and monitoring students until they can be picked up
- Provide help in a limited manner for students with
illness or injury, notify school nurse of visits to the health room and
any follow up needs
- Follow policies and procedures for dispensing
medication to students, report any student responses/concerns to the
school nurse
- Help manage student immunization records
- Maintain documentation of health concerns, treatment,
and follow-up
- Communicate with other school staff and help coordinate
services
- Perform student screenings per policy. Report results
to RN for referral and follow up.
- Assist school nurse at other school campuses as needed
or assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Strong organizational and communication skills
(written, verbal, and electronic)
- Strict adherence to maintaining confidentiality
- Completion of training required to be an active member
of the school’s Safety Team (i.e. CPR, AED, Stop the Bleed, Bloodborne
Pathogens, Medication Training, Seizures, Diabetes, Concussions, COVID-19,
PPE, CPI, vision and hearing screening training)
Qualifications
High School diploma or equivalent
CNA or Associate’s degree preferred
