About the Position:

 

Under the direction of the RN Case Manager, the outreach worker will work to provide engagement opportunities which contribute to holistic student development experiences. In this role, you will be delivering the academic, wellness and physical components of a program to an assigned group of students.  This candidate must be able to communicate nutrition, fitness as well as other health related topics such as vaping, tobacco use, and substance abuse principals by preparing lessons that promotes and delivers a holistic approach to wellness.  The instructor will mentor and coach students to a better wellness journey and individual health appreciation.

 

Reports to: Nurse Health Manager

 

 

General Duties: 

  • Develops and maintains instructor schedules.
  • Instruct students on various health topics as stated above.
  • Teaches the program of wellness and physical exercise along with classroom instruction (temporarily remote).
  • Supports the program with outside resources to continue lifelong healthier choices.
  • Maintains attendance of student participation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Understanding the dynamics of substance use, tobacco use and vaping.
  • Knowledge of exercise routines and equipment and safety in applications.
  • CPR certified.
  • Multicultural fluency.
  • Interpersonal/human relation skills.
  • Verbal and written communication skills.
  • Planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to rapport with students.
  • Ability to work with a diverse population.
  • Ability to develop and organize student programs.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Citizenship, residency or work visa required

Terms:

 

This is a non-bargaining unit position. The hours are on a part-time basis, up to 19 hours per week with no benefits eligibility. The hourly rate will be determined by the candidate's qualifications which include but are not limited to education and experience. The hours will be determined by the Supervisor. This is a grant funded position.
