Title: LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE (LPN) (Temporary: School Year 20-21 - while in-person school is in session)

Reporting Relationships: Reports to the School Nurse Leader or School Principal/Assistant Principal
Qualifications:
Holds a valid license as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts;
Current CPR certification;
Experience working with school-aged children.
General Responsibilities: To maximize students’ health and well-being by providing practical nursing skills in the Blackstone-Millville Regional School District.
Performance Responsibilities:
Under the supervision and consultation (direct or via phone) of the School Nurse the LPN will:
Work within the framework of the MA LPN Nurse Practice Act for implementation of laws and regulations pertaining to school health.
Conduct growth and development screenings as mandated by 105 CMR 2000.000.
Assist with administering first aid to children.
Administer medication in accordance with school policy.
Perform specific medical procedures as prescribed and outlined in the student’s health care plan.
Confer with supervisor, site administrator, and the school nurse regarding student needs, policies and procedures.
Maintain health records and proper documentation.
Contact parents of ill or injured children as directed.
Perform other necessary duties as required; filing, photocopying, collating, distributing notices.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the School Principal, School Nurse or School Nurse Leader.
On occasion, LPN may be called to different schools to cover for an RN with supervision by an RN via phone and/ or computer.

LPN is responsible for:
Participation in educational programs designed to increase knowledge and enhance the quality of practical nursing care in the school settings.
Upholding professional standards, The Massachusetts Nursing Practice Act (244CMR3.00) and other state and local statutes and regulations applicable to LPN practice; and adheres to district policies.
Keeps current with any changes to applicable nursing practices and standards.

    The Blackstone-Millville Regional School District was established in 1967 to serve the needs of students from the towns of Blackstone and Millville.

    The District consists of one elementary school in Millville, two elementary schools in Blackstone, one Middle School and one High School.

    In recent years, the Blackstone-Millville Regional School District has constructed two new elementary schools as well as rehabilitated the John F. Kennedy School. The District also opened the new Frederick W. Hartnett Middle School in August of 2003.

    Members of the Blackstone-Millville Regional District School Committee are elected at large from the two member communities. Each of the eight members, four from each community, serves a four-year term. Two members stand for election each April. Learn more about us...
