Teacher Assistant

The Spurwink School, located in Lincoln, RI, is a small therapeutic school program servicing students (K-12) with mental health needs and emotional challenges. This year-round position offers a unique opportunity for a caring individual to gain valuable experience, while making a difference in the lives of children. An emphasis is placed on an integrated team approach to meeting the individual needs of each of our students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilites:
-The day-to -day direct learning acivities and functions of the assigned classroom and students.
- Participation in consultations and other staff meetings. Contribute to treatment team meetings in both oral and written form.
- Provide support with academic tasks, behavior management and crisis intervention, including direct supervision of a child in time-
out, active teaching of positive stategies for coping, problem solving, and encouraging students to exercise self-control and
ownership of responsibility.
