Job Description

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Fifteen years supervisory experience in construction or building maintenance or 
  • any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required 
  • skills, knowledge and ability to perform the duties of the job
  • Experience leading organizational accountability
  • Experience developing and maintaining large budgets
  • Experience developing and nurturing organizational culture
  • Engineering or architectural engineering degree helpful
  • Valid Arkansas drivers’ license upon hiring 

 

REPORTS TO:    Executive Director of Operations

 

JOB GOAL:        To provide all students with a physical learning environment that is safe, clean, attractive, and smooth functioning.



PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Responsible for the proper maintenance and repair of all District real property.
  2. Ensure buildings and grounds are in condition for safe, sanitary and efficient operation, and continuously inspect, appraise, and maintain such condition throughout the term of their operation.
  3. Ensure that standards consistent with all applicable laws are maintained.
  4. Determine and establish detailed accounting and specifications pertaining to supplies, materials, and equipment.
  5. Prepare and administer the budget for maintenance, grounds, and custodial supplies.
  6. Requisition and purchase equipment and supplies needed for the efficient operation and maintenance of all school property.
  7. Receive, store, and issue all maintenance and ground materials, supplies, and equipment.
  8. Inspect all school buildings, grounds and installations regularly to determine that high standards of workmanship, cleanliness, and safety are maintained.
  9. Organize and implement a program of preventive maintenance.
  10. Keep informed of the latest trends, developments, and products in the areas of maintenance, repair, and upkeep and encourage innovation and experimentation as appropriate.
  11. Supervise and inspect the improvement and renovation work performed by outside contractors and verify that the terms of all such contracts have been fulfilled before authorizing final payments.
  12. Assist in the recruitment, employment, assignment, transfer, promotion, demotion, or dismissal of personnel.
  13. Recommend personnel allocated to operate and maintain buildings, grounds, and other school property; also, personnel allocated for the office.
  14. Organize and implement an orientation program on proper operation and maintenance of school facilities for departmental personnel.
  15. Conduct a continuing program of staff training and personnel development.
  16. Schedule work routines for departmental personnel.
  17. Coordinate vacation schedules for departmental personnel.
  18. Participate in the process of site selection and acquisition and the development of architectural plans.
  19. Report on the general conditions of school property and recommend changes or improvements which should be made.
  20. Perform some heavy lifting.
  21. Perform work at varying heights on a ladder.
  22. Respond to after hour emergencies.
  23. Perform staff evaluations.
  24. Lead service contracts.
  25. Champion cost savings measures that provide quality services and facilities at minimum cost to the taxpayer.
  26. Assist in the implementation of the District's Desegregation Plan.
  27. Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

 

Salary Range:                   Range 12 - Support Staff Daily Salary Schedule ($292.83/day - $424.78/day depending on relevant experience)

Length of Contract:          244 days per contract year

FLSA Status:                    Exempt

Personnel Status:            Classified



EVALUATION:

 

Performance of this job will be evaluated according to provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
