A position has been declared open in the Weber School District at Roosevelt Elementary for a School Readiness Lead Aide. This position is for 5.20 hours per day for 9 months per year. This paraprofessional position is funded through a grant and will be funded on a year-by-year basis with no guarantee of ongoing employment. Purpose Statement
The job of School Readiness Lead Aide was established for the purpose of teaching in a preschool classroom. This will involve working with aides and support personnel in the planning of instruction and supervision of preschool students, performing classroom clerical tasks, and assisting students in preparing for kindergarten through development of social, emotional, physical, moral, and intellectual skills.


Essential Functions

  • Plans and incorporates intentional and differentiated instruction in whole group, small group, and child-directed learning aligned with all of the developmental domains and academic content areas defined in the Utah early Childhood Standards for the purpose of improving students’ academic success.
  • Administers ongoing assessment of students’ educational growth and developmental progress to inform instruction. Maintains students’ files/records for the purpose of documenting activities and/or providing reliable information.
  • Monitors individual students, classroom, playground activities, etc. for the purpose of providing a safe and positive learning environment.
  • Participates in ongoing, focused, and intensive professional development for the school readiness program.
  • Works with other personnel as needed for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
  • Plans and incorporates family engagement, including ongoing communication between home and school, and parent education opportunities based on each family’s circumstances.
  • Performs record keeping and clerical functions (e.g. scheduling, copying, etc.) for the purpose of supporting the administrator in providing records/materials.

Job Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Child Development Associate Certification or an associate or bachelor’s degree in and early childhood education related field.
  • Skills, knowledge, and abilities:
  • Must adhere to safety practices
  • Must have knowledge of child development evidence-based instructional practices
  • Must have knowledge of Utah Early Childhood Standards
  • Must be able to adapt to changing work priorities, displaying tact and courtesy, meeting deadlines and schedules, setting priorities, being attentive to detail, and working with detailed information/data.


  • Experience in preschool setting involving lesson planning aligned to the Utah Early Childhood Standards desired.


  • Required Child Development Associate Certification (CDA); or an associate or bachelor’s degree in an early childhood education related field.
