Job Description

A part-time DESE certified or eligible Registered Nurse position is available in the Beverly High School Nursing Office.
Monday-Friday 10-2 pm - Medical and Dental Benefits are available.

The RN will work with a team of nurses under the direction of the High School's full time registered nurse with oversight from the district nurse leader. The RN nursing practice will involve managing a caseload of diabetic students and other health concerns of the high school aged population.. The RN will oversee all aspects of health care for the students he/she manages such as conferencing with diabetic medical providers and diabetic nurse managers, coordinating follow-up oversight with community nursing and/or mental health providers, and conferring with family members. The RN will also perform mandated health screenings, support the emotional health of the student population, administer medications, attend school-based student support meetings as needed. The RN should become an active member of the high school staff and support wellness initiatives when appropriate.

    Beverly High School was founded in 1858 and has a proud tradition of educating the children of Beverly. Enrolling more than 1300 students, BHS offers a variety of programs for its diverse student body, almost ninety percent of whom go on to two or four year colleges. The mission of Beverly High School is to provide a safe, respectful environment where all students are challenged to reach their academic and social potential and become active, responsible citizens.

    One of the real strengths of Beverly High School is the diverse curricula offerings that include thirteen (13) Advanced Placement courses, five (5) foreign languages, six (6) science laboratory courses, fine arts courses and a growing business program. Students are expected to demonstrate high levels of achievement while maximizing their many strengths and talents.

    Complimenting the classroom curriculum are many co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Beverly is extremely proud of its high school academic and athlete teams, its widely celebrated fine arts program, and its award-winning student publications. Beverly High School values the various student organizations that foster leadership, service and social awareness among its student body.

    Beverly High School parents are very dedicated and active; participating in our PTSO, School Council and various booster groups for our academic and athletic programs. The BHS PTSO sponsors a golf tournament each fall from which the proceeds have enabled the group to fund numerous technology purchases, field trips, guest speakers and teacher “wish list” items. Our School discusses the academic interests within BHS, while our numerous booster groups lend support our co-curricular programs.

    Through our curriculum offerings and our activity and athletic programs, Beverly High School seeks to meet as many of the educational needs of its students as possible. We are concerned with all our students, whatever their backgrounds, abilities, interests and ambitions. We pride ourselves on knowing our students and letting them know we care about them as people first, then students.

    Job Requirements

    • -Valid Massachusetts registered nurse license is required.
      -Eligibility for Massachusetts DESE license is required.
      -Experience in school health or public health is preferred.
      -3 letters of recommendation are required.
      -Current CPR certification required.
      -Bachelors degree in Nursing Required
      -Experience with managing diabetes preferred
      -Three years community health or school health nursing experience preferred
    • At least 3 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
