Job Description

The North Reading Public School District invites qualified candidates to apply for available positions on our Digital Learning team. We seek a licensed, experienced teacher to teach middle school Computer Science. This educator will work cooperatively with the Middle School Principal and Director of Digital Learning to implement the system-wide digital learning and technology plan. Performance Responsibilities for (1) Middle School position: • Teach a Computer Science course which includes the Digital Literacy and Computer Science strands (Computing and Society, Digital Tools and Collaboration, Computing Systems, Computational Thinking) and Robotics. • Implement competency based assessments within the Computer Science curriculum. • Teach core robotics fundamentals with a range of robotics platforms (Lego,Vex,Tetrix) utilizing performance and design based challenges. • Teach Web Design and Development with HTML5, CSS and other web based and scripting (Python) programming languages. • Teach, model, and support integrated lessons in the classroom by providing direct instruction to students in the use of computer applications and new and emerging technologies. • Facilitate the development of curriculum units that fully integrate the DLCS and information technology benchmarks into the content areas. • Provide technology instruction for students with diverse learning styles or those on Individual Education Programs (IEP). • Develop and conduct building-based and system-wide professional development workshops for instructional technology initiatives. • Promote information technology and identify areas of the curriculum best served by technology use. • Consult and collaborate with curriculum coordinators and school based teams to identify appropriate software and programs to support curriculum. • Participate in school-based technology teams. • Consult with school principals and others in developing individual School Technology Plans that support and facilitate the implementation of the District Technology Plan. • Participate in regional job-alike meetings and conferences • Other related duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements

    • Preferred Qualifications:
      Possession of the DESE DLCS License 5-12 (Preferred)
      Possession of the DESE Instructional Technology License (all levels).
      Those with Science or Technology Education backgrounds and License credentials are encouraged to apply
      3 Years Classroom Experience and familiarity with the DLCS Standards (Preferred).
