Job Description

Duties (include but are not limited to):
• Coordinate Academic Mentoring Program
• Demonstrate knowledge of subjects through instructional practices
• Guide the learning process toward the achievement of learning goals
• Use assessment information to provide students with feedback, which is corrective and informative
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior conducive to an effective learning environment
• Develop written lesson plans in advance
• Assist students with their homework and class work in any and all subject areas
• Work closely with fellow teachers to help students achieve academic success
• Work with school counselors to develop student academic schedules
• Help students to develop skills and attitudes that enable them to advocate for themselves
• Work with students, parents, and staff to develop plans that help students realize their potential
• Collaborate with people and resources in the school and the community for the fullest academic and personal development of the students
• Work closely with Principal to determine academic mentor program enrollment and staffing
• Develop and coordinate academic mentor schedules each semester
• Meet with academic mentors regarding student progress and program direction
• Present information about the academic mentor program to others

    Job Requirements

      • Bachelor’s Degree in the related content area
      • Eligible to hold Vermont Certification for grades 9-12
      • Experience working with adolescents
      • Ability to read & interpret procedures, policies & regulations, such as safety rules, operating & maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
      • Knowledge of High School Algebra, Geometry, Chemistry, Biology, Social Studies, and English. Ability to explain concepts in these areas to students.
    • At least 2 years of relevant experience preferred
    • Bachelor degree preferred
    • Citizenship, residency or work visa required
