Job Description

The Burke Town School, serving children in PreK- grade 8, announces the hiring of a 3rd or 4th grade mathematics/science teacher for our 3rd, 4th and 5th grade team. Candidates must be dynamic, high quality math teachers interested in joining a high energy PLC and PBL school focussed on personalization and authentic learning. Responsibilities include delivering mathematics using the Bridges mathematics program utilizing a workshop model, following the Common Core Standards, and using OGAP mathematics knowledge and understanding of the progressions. Individual will work closely within a collaborative team of 3rd, 4th and 5th grade teachers, special education teacher and math and literacy interventionists and coaches who develop PBL units and integrative learning opportunities. Experience with evidence based mathematics strategies, workshop model, OGAP mathematics practices, Common Core, PLC collaboration, positive behavior interventions, formative assessments, and Responsive Classroom are a priority. We seek creative, passionate teachers with a sense of humor and genuine love for working with young people while collaborating to achieve high levels of student learning. The Burke Town School is part of the Kingdom East School District, located in the heart of a vibrant, community in the Northeast, Vermont. We operate seven preK-8th grade schools ranging from 60 to 500 students. Our high school students have “choice” and may opt to attend one of the traditional independent schools -- Lyndon Institute or St. Johnsbury Academy -- or another high school of their choice.

We are located about 3 hours from Montreal, Boston and Portland, ME.
