Job Description

TITLE: High School Assistant Principal

TYPE OF POSITION: Full-time (1.0); successful candidate to receive a 3-year contract

SALARY RANGE: $100,000 to $109,000

ANTICIPATED START DATE: 07/01/2020

LOCATION: Seekonk High School

AREA OF CONSIDERATION: All qualified candidates

REPORTS TO:  Building Principal

 

QUALIFICATIONS

To be considered qualified for this position, candidates must minimally have the following:

  • Licensed in Principal/Assistant Principal (9-12) by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, or equivalent license
  • At least three (3) years of successful teaching experience
  • Knowledge of best practices in social-emotional learning
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws as they apply to the administration of the disciplinary code for all students
  • Compliance with all regulations regarding ethical practice as it pertains to student records and mandated reporting
  • Strong collaborative and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills for the purpose of evaluating situations, solving problems, and /or resolving conflicts
  • Ability to use technology for data analysis and an understanding of its application to student learning and behavior

 

RESPONSIBILITIES & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS which include but are not limited to:

  • Manages various administrative functions including student disciplinary policy, student attendance, and assignment of personnel for the purpose of enforcing school, district, and state policy and maintaining safety and efficiency of school operations.
  • Maintain an effective liaison and communication with parents, staff members, and community agencies.
  • Knowledge of DESE data tools for helping to improve student learning
  • Completes period reports required by federal, state, and local agencies.
  • Facilitate the Positive Behavior Supports Committee
  • Assist in overseeing a successful Senior Awards Night and Underclassmen Awards Night
  • Review and recommend instructional methods and materials.
  • Attends meetings as requested by the principal
  • Oversee the Safety and Crisis Team – plans and facilitates meetings
  • Facilitate School-Based Technology Meetings
  • Supervise school functions as directed
  • Lead Professional Learning Communities
  • Facilitate revisions to student handbook
  • Assume leadership of the building during any absence of the principal
  • In collaboration with the principal, share best instructional practices and facilitate opportunities for faculty to model best practices for colleagues (leading from the classroom)
  • Observe, analyze, and evaluate teaching and learning
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
