Role
Lead Teachers are full-time members of the school staff. All lead teachers have regular duties in the course of the day that may include lunch duty, arrival and dismissal duty, recess duty and or hallway coverage. Lead teachers must have a deep desire to work with educationally underserved student populations and their families
Responsibilities:

Provide whole class, individual, and small group teaching to a group of 8-12 students with mild-moderate intellectual impairments and other disabilities
Collaborate with a paraprofessional to deliver high-quality instruction to all students
Administer and analyze individual assessments in order to identify students’ strengths and learning needs across all areas
Design and implement targeted instruction to meet students’ individual needs in math and reading, in accordance with students’ IEP goals and Common Core curriculum frameworks
Modify and adapt grade-level curriculum in order to ensure all students have meaningful access to the curriculum and all students are making progress in the general curriculum and toward their individual goals
Complete all aspects of the IEP case management process for students in your classroom, including participating in IEP meetings, writing IEPs, completing educational assessments, collecting ongoing data, writing progress reports, and communicating with families
Provide needed accommodations for student learning and testing when required; develop and implement curriculum, and collect and analyze student work for the MCAS Alternate Assessment portfolios when needed
Collaborate regularly with related service providers in order to integrate support for students’ social-emotional, communication, sensory, motor, and physical needs throughout the school day
Provide consistent social-emotional support in order to help students’ develop the skills they need to succeed in school and in life, and develop and implement behavior support plans consistently when needed
Participate collaboratively in weekly or biweekly coaching with the Dean of Special Education in order to improve your practice in the areas of curriculum, assessment, instruction, behavior support, and IEP development
Qualifications:

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including strong public speaking skills;
A sense of humility and a growth mindset
Bachelor’s degree is required, Master’s degree is preferred
Current authorization to work in the United States – A candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment.
Moderate Disabilities Certification preferred
