Job Description

POSITION: SPEECH AND LANGUAGE PATHOLOGIST

REPORTS TO: DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION

FLSA Status: Exempt

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Evaluates students to assess speech and language abilities and needs.
• Writes evaluation reports including all speech/language assessments, goals and plans.
• Determines and maintains programs based on goals set by IEP or Learning Plan.
• Determines needs of individual children and provides services one to one or in small groups as deemed appropriate.
• Determines needs of individual children within the classroom setting and provide services within the classroom as deemed appropriate.
• Serves as a consultant to classroom teachers as to how to better meet the communication needs of individual children within the group.
• Works in conjunction with the classroom teacher to incorporate the speech/language program into the curriculum.
• Works in conjunction with team to create Educational Plans for annual reviews and provides input for students who are involved with the three-year re-evaluation.
• Maintains logs and ongoing assessments to evaluate student progress.
• Attends parent conferences whenever possible.
• Maintains a positive learning environment.


QUALIFICATIONS:
Preferred MS / MA Speech Pathology – CCC or CFY
Will consider BS / BA – supervision provided
