The Guild School, a 766-approved, private day/residential year round school, is looking for teachers certified in severe disabilities. The Guild School serves students ages 6-22 with severe to moderate intellectual disabilities, autism spectrum and related disorders, and emotional behavior issues. The Guild School is fully approved by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and has a staff-to-student ratio of 1:3.

The Special Education Teacher is responsible for implementing a functional academic curriculum with an emphasis on life skills, social and behavioral skills.

Special Education Teacher Responsibilities:
•Planning, implementing, and evaluating lessons
•Working cooperatively with a team of related service providers to best meet the educational needs of the individual student
•Modifying instruction for diverse learners
•Engaging students in the lesson by providing opportunities for participation
•Managing disruptive behavior inside the classroom
•Implementing IEP goals and behavior plans, including tracking student data
•Completing required paperwork related to students’ IEPs
•Attending IEP and related meetings

The Guild School offers a supportive environment with on-site training and the ongoing opportunity to share ideas in an open forum through frequent in-house team meetings and training opportunities.

Crisis Prevention Intervention, First Aid, CPR and other required training is provided in house. Support from teaching, clinical, behavior, and communication specialists help to promote independence for all students and provide growth in the special education field for teachers.

We are seeking certified special education teachers who can offer our students the opportunity to reach their full potential and develop independent living skills. Applied Behavior Analysis experience is recommended for the position.

Requirements: Bachelor's or Master’s Degree in special education required. Massachusetts Special Education Certification in Moderate and/or Severe Special Needs in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts is required when applying for this position
