Job Description

Description: New Heights Charter School of Brockton is seeking a qualified math teacher to support our Early College students taking college level math courses at Massasoit Community College. An ideal candidate has prior teaching experience in the High School and/or college setting.

Purpose: To plan and implement an appropriate instructional program in a professional learning environment that encourages students to fulfill their academic potential. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Early College Dean of STEM, the Director of Early College and Post-Secondary Pathways, the Principal, and Director of Curriculum and Instruction.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
A. Student Support at the Early College High School Campus
Provide supplemental instruction and tutoring services to Early College students. Including:
• Planning, preparing, and delivering lessons and/or additional instructional materials that support student’s learning of their college math content.
• Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction, when needed.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing procedures.
• Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
• Encourage, monitor, and provide feedback on the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
• Maintain accurate and complete records of students' academic and behavioral progress and development.
• Participate in department, school, district, instructional coaching, and parent meetings.

B. Student Support at Massasoit Community College (MCC) Campus
1. Provide accurate attendance records and sit in on all assigned college courses.
2. Provide instructional and behavior management support of students while on the MCC Campus and during classes (as determined by each college professor).
2. Serve as a point of contact for MCC faculty, including communicating any faculty questions and concerns to the Early College Dean of STEM and/or Director of Early College and Post-Secondary Pathways.
3. Assist Early College Staff in the transportation of students to and from the Early College and MCC campuses. This includes taking accurate attendance of students boarding their buses and riding on the bus with students between the two campuses.
4. Serve as club advisor (as assigned/approved).

Additional Functions of the job include but are not limited to the following:
• Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
• Promptly return phone calls and answer emails from families and coworkers.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• Highly qualified in the state of MA
• B.A/B.S degree from an accredited institution
• Massachusetts State certification in teaching in appropriate subject area along with all other certifications/licenses required by the State.
• Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
• Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Ability to report to work on a regular and punctual basis.
• Ability to use or learn relevant technology.

Pay scale is competitive with local urban school districts.

We partner with Massasoit Community College to ensure that most of our students graduate from our high school with both a high school diploma and an associate degree. We are a newer, urban public charter school with extended day (7:30-3:45) and extended year (199 days for teachers).
