Elementary School Teacher for World Language Classroom (Spanish) (.7 FTE)

Israel Loring Elementary School is seeking a qualified/certified Elementary School Teacher to work with grades K-5 in developing competencies, knowledge and skills comprehending, speaking, reading and writing in Spanish.

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

• Teach skills and knowledge in the instruction of Spanish to elementary school students through appropriate learning activities;
• Develop lesson plans including supplementary materials and participate in curriculum and other developmental programs;
• Provide individualized and small group instruction in order to adapt the curriculum to the needs of each student;
• Develop student understanding and appreciation of culture of countries where Spanish is spoken;
• Establish and maintain standards of student behavior needs to provide an orderly, productive classroom environment;
• Communicate with parents and school counselors on students’ progress;
• Collaborate alongside classroom teachers to connect student learning through Spanish, where appropriate;
• Fosters student interest in and understanding of the Spanish language;
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.

Classification: SEA Unit Position

Schedule: Work 183 days

Salary: Commensurate with education and experience based on the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.

    Job Requirements

    • • Bachelor’s degree in a related field; Master’s Degree preferred;

      • A valid Massachusetts PreK-6 License issued by the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and Spanish MTEL;

      • Fluency in Spanish;
      • Ability to provide a structured, orderly, safe, and respectful school environment;
      • Belief that every child can learn and the drive to help every child reach his or her potential;
      • Philosophy of collaborating with educators to enhance best practices and inform instruction;
      • SEI endorsement
      - Minimum of 1 year either student teaching/lead teaching in an elementary setting;
      -Hiring is contingent upon a successful CORI and fingerprinting clearance. All finalists will be required to provide official transcripts.
