Do you love to laugh? Love to play? If you love children and are looking for a job that feels more like play than work, then we are looking for you! The Moretown Education Center for All (MECA Program) is seeking a Full-Time Lead Teacher to join our team.

The MECA Program is a Preschool Childcare, PreK - 6th Grade After School, and Summer Camp Program based out of the Moretown Elementary School. Our mission is to provide children a safe environment where they are given an opportunity to explore new interests and friendships, and develop tools for growth in their physical, social and emotional selves. We strive to provide children the opportunity to learn important life skills and empower them to try new things as we enter into each new enrichment opportunity. We recognize challenges and mistakes and encourage growth through each with a focus on strengths and goal setting.

As the Lead Teacher, you will be responsible for daily curriculum implementation. This includes but is not limited to activities focused on growing cognitive & intellectual, language & literacy, social-emotional, and physical skills. You will also be responsible for creating a welcoming, warm, and safe classroom environment where all children feel comfortable and cared for.

At the MECA Program, you will be joining a vibrant team that works collaboratively to create engaging children’s programming. We are fun-loving people who are passionate about creating exciting and enriching environments for kids, and we are looking for someone who can bring that same positive energy to our program.

The Lead Teacher is responsible for:

Leading daily curriculum and activities for Pre-K students

Planning and prepping daily and weekly curriculum activities

Assisting in implementation of programs and curriculum in the preschool classroom and after school programs

Establishing positive relationships with parents and families of students

Communicating frequently with parents informally, with periodic notes and verbal communication

Maintaining open communication with coworkers and parents

Assisting Director to ensure the program adheres to all regulations established by the State of Vermont

Maintaining program structure as stated in the MECA Family Guidebook

Assisting Director and Assistant Director in program planning and implementation of these plans

Maintaining the MECA classroom (cleanliness, supply inventory, etc.)


Is at minimum a high school graduate or has completed a GED

At least 18 years of age

Has taken Fundamentals of Education or has taken a 3-credit course in child development

Has at least 12 months experience working with children Grade 3 or younger

Strong leadership capabilities

Strong collaboration skills

Upbeat and positive attitude

Experience coordinating, implementing, and overseeing projects/activities and plans for children of differing ages

Has an understanding of child development and children’s needs at different ages

Ability to work independently and ability to build upon ideas laid out by other staff members, community members, and children

Can communicate effectively with children and parents
