Apprenticeship Fellow
Office of College & Career Readiness


General Description of Duties:
The Apprenticeship Fellow will be responsible for inter-agency project management of the new PrepareRI Youth Apprenticeship (PRIYA) program. PRIYA provides high school seniors an opportunity to earn while they learn as they embark on a specific career pathway while still in high school. PRIYA students work part-time, take classes that directly relate to their employment experience, and work closely with their employer and CCRI to coordinate the beginning of a career path while still in high school. The Apprenticeship Fellow position is funded through a Pathways to STEM Apprenticeship grant from the US Department of Education through at least September 30, 2021.

Supervision Received:
The Fellow will work in Collaboration with the RIDE Director of College & Career Readiness, within the Division of Innovation, and works in collaboration with division and project team members with latitude to exercise independent judgment. Work is reviewed periodically for achievement of results.

Supervision Exercised:
Generally none. May work as part of teams, and in collaboration with others, with latitude for the exercise of independent judgement to achieve results.

Scope of Work:
The fellow will ensure that grant activities meet all the parameters of this federal grant, and that PRIYA has the greatest possible impact on Rhode Island’s students. As RIDE’s point person for the grant, the fellow will coordinate the work between the various parties involved in the grant, including: RIDE, the Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI), the Governor’s Workforce Board, the PrepareRI core team, schools, industry partners, and the US Department of Education. The fellow will oversee all budgeting/fiscal activities and support federal reporting. Overall, the fellow must provide the support that all key stakeholders need to ensure this grant fully advances RIDE’s goal of preparing all Rhode Island students for success in college and career. This is a FELLOW position that will work at RIDE. The employer for this position will be a school district. The applicants selected for an interview will be provided with additional information regarding the fellow process.

    • Qualifications:
      • Skilled in project planning and management
      • Skilled in facilitating groups and leading work teams
      • Experience with budgeting and budget projects
      • Experience with analyzing data and preparing reports
      • Experience working within—and across—government agencies, schools, or postsecondary institutions is preferred
      • Holding a Master’s degree in policy, education, project management or related field is preferred
