Job Description

Lifespan is hiring 2 Therapeutic Integration Specialists for a 6-month position.

Therapeutic integration services are designed to support successful participation of children with special developmental and behavioral needs within the typical early childhood environments. The responsibilities of the TIS are to provide general support and specific interventions designed for the assigned children.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

1. Supporting the engagement of the Kids Connect child with other children, staff, and in routine activities of the center. Assistance will be provided for:
? increasing communication with and understanding of others
? increasing involvement in activities
? enhancing imitation
? generalizing social interactions
? developing independence skills
? decreasing aggression or other maladaptive behaviors
? learning problem solving skills (e.g., organization, conflict resolution).
? supporting activities of daily living

2. Implementing the Therapeutic Integration Plan and providing the accommodations and modifications necessary to maximize participation of the child as specified in the plan; plan must be adhered to unless otherwise determined by either the Clinical Supervisor or Director.

3. Collecting information on each objective to measure the child’s progress toward successful integration, maintaining all required documentation for the electronic record.

4. Providing input and feedback regarding the Kids Connect children’s integration and interventions to the Director and the Clinical Supervisor during weekly observations/meetings.

5. Communicating effectively with other classroom staff to keep them informed and involve them in the children’s interventions.

6. Coordinating with the Director and Clinical Supervisor any communication with families about their children’s progress

7. Adhering to all SHECLC policies and procedures in addition to the Kids Connect requirements.

8. Assisting other classroom staff with general activities in the classroom; other staff may assist Kids Connect children, shifting responsibilities periodically to ensure generalization of learning.

9. Reporting to Director any cases of suspected child abuse and/or neglect, or make a direct call to DCYF Child Protective Services (1-800-RICHILD).

10. Doing light housekeeping of classroom supplies and furnishings.

11. Following through on other responsibilities as required by the program and related to duties and skills.

12. Completing at least 2 hours per month or 20 hours per year continuing education related to skills and knowledge necessary to provide therapeutic integration services.

Education and/or Experience – AA degree or 2 years college credit in the fields of early childhood, special education, or psychology. At least 1 year supervised experience working with children with special needs, including social/emotional disorders and/or developmental disabilities.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations – at least 2 years college coursework
Completion of CPR & First Aid certifications

Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret lesson plans and books. Ability to write and/or print posters and signs. Basic computer skills.

Mathematical Skills - Ability to perform basic mathematical skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).

Reasoning Ability - Ability to recognize problems.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

There will also be frequent standing, kneeling, bending, and sitting on the floor.
