Job Description

Communications Specialist

The Stern Center for Language and Learning (SCLL) is seeking Communications Specialist to vigorously heighten the Stern Center for Language and Learning’s (SCLL) programs and visibility as literacy and learning experts through persuasive messaging and marketing campaigns. The Communications Specialist is charged with ensuring brand consistency, coordination of messages, and the highest standards for external communication.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop the communications and marketing strategy applying in-depth knowledge of educational trends, market conditions, and SCLL’s major projects, stakeholders, programs, research, and products
  • Manage the website, search engine optimization, social media and blog content, and stay abreast of emerging marketing platforms
  • Solicit testimonials and narratives, maintain email distribution lists, and publish the newsletter, press releases, and the annual report
  • Design digital and print advertisements and brochures to promote robust recognition and brand awareness
  • Establish continuous evaluation methods to measure the effectiveness of marketing channels and refine target audiences
  • Negotiate contracts and oversee marketing contractors and firms
  • Collaborate with program directors to plan and execute marketing campaigns and promotional materials that elevate reputation and drive service revenue
  • Anticipate opportunities to extend SCLL’s media presence and attendance at industry events to promote the organization’s visibility and educational prominence
  • Promote and organize special events, cultivate event sponsors, and manage event materials
  • Serve as a spokesperson for SCLL and cultivate productive relationships with stakeholders including educational leaders, donors, current and/or future Board members, educators, future employees, parents and students
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field, 3-5 years of communications/marketing experience, and knowledge of field of education preferred
