Job Description

 

The Burlington School District believes a diverse and culturally proficient faculty and staff are

pivotal to the creation of a strong learning environment free of inequities. Accordingly, the

Burlington School District's goal is to provide every student with an educational experience

enhanced by the professional contributions of culturally competent representatives of

Applications are being accepted for the FY21 school year, with an anticipated start date of August 19th (TBD).  Please make sure you provide clear evidence of the following criteria in your application.

  • In “Certifications” section, note the following (if pending, please indicate):
  • Licensed or eligible for Vermont Educators License.
  • An Endorsement in the subject area or eligible for Vermont Provisional License.
  • Documented NCLB Highly Qualified Teacher status.
  • Eligible to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • THREE Letters of Recommendation and transcripts uploaded with application
  • Understanding of Cultural Competency (As explained through Essay 1)
  • School experience at the elementary level
  • Familiarity with integrated technology as a learning tool
  • Knowledge of best practices regarding student management protocols
  • Knowledge of elementary research-based best practices
  • Training and experience with English Language Learners
  • Evidence of a strong connection with students and families.
  • Experience in a professional/teaching-learning community
  • Knowledge of assessments and use of data to inform instruction
  • Experience in implementing inclusive practices
  • Strong communication skills as evidenced through quality of resume and cover letter
  • Ongoing educational coursework

If selected for an interview a portfolio may be requested. The portfolio should include: 
1. A sample lesson plan that was successfully taught. 
2. A classroom management plan with rules, positive reinforcement, and consequences. 
3. A sample form of communication such as a letter sent to parents/families for communication about the curriculum, a sample one to two-page unit plan, classroom management, or the start of the year. 
4. A rubric for assessment of an assignment, or a grading policy for a course. 
5. One or two samples of students work, with all identifying names removed.
6. A sample one- to two-page unit plan or a page of a curriculum map made by the candidate. 
7. Pictures of a well-organized classroom, but not pictures of students, optional
