Job Description

The Burlington School District believes a diverse and culturally proficient faculty and staff are pivotal to the creation of a strong learning environment free of inequities. Accordingly, the Burlington School District's goal is to provide every student with an educational experience enhanced by the professional contributions of culturally competent representatives of

different races, ethnicity, gender, physical ability, age and sexual preference.

Per Diem tutors needed for an on-call basis accepting referrals from schools around the District (k-12 age).  Position needs could be up to 3 students per day, 2hrs per student.  Final schedule is based on the needs of students and the availability of the tutor.

The schedule is inconsistent.  Hours are flexible based on a variety of factors.  This is not a full-time position.

The position includes a partnership with UVM Medical Center Children's Hospital.  Referrals for instruction at the hospital come from UVM, but BSD acts as the instructor on behalf of the students under medical care.  Support time may include visits to the hospital.

Experience as an educator (or students on an Educator path) is desired.  Licensure is not required, but a strong desire to assist students struggling is a must.  These student struggles are not always, nor entirely acadmic.....you may be supporting emotional/behavioral needs.  One on One supports is the primary focus.  Developing strong relationships is also an integral component of this position.

Hourly Rate: starting at $17.00/hr.

Un-benefited. Flexible hours.  A variety of work locations, primarily community environments (i.e. Fletcher Free Library), with occasional hospital visits as needed.
